Massage Therapy. Wow, what a treat! It can truly be argued that massage therapy is God’s gift to those who work hard and are under a high level of stress. The anticipation begins with making the appointment and doesn’t end until you are lying on the table and ready. You know that for the next 60 minutes nothing else will matter and all the cares of the world will have to wait while you bask in thorough relaxation and enjoyment. From the scalp massage to each foot being soothed, and the rough spots in between, you look forward to feeling like a large bowl of Jello when you are done. Our therapist has just become one of our best friends!
The term "massage therapy" encompasses many different techniques. For example, in Swedish massage the therapist uses long strokes, kneading, deep circular movements, vibration, and tapping. Sports massage is similar to Swedish massage, adapted specifically to the needs of athletes. Among the many other examples are deep tissue massage and trigger point massage, which focuses on myofascial trigger points -- muscle "knots" that are painful when pressed and can cause symptoms elsewhere in the body.
They may also perform an evaluation through touch, to locate painful or tense areas and determine how much pressure to apply. They will use oil or lotion to reduce friction on the skin. You can also choose to receive massage therapy while sitting in a chair. The massage sessions we offer range from 30 minutes to up to 90 minutes.
